Tevas: The only slide option is Universal Slide, which appears to have a poor sole for grip. I considered the Z series, but I think it would be too annoying to put them on and off 6 times a day. I don't like too much arch support, and not considering anything with a strap between toes.Ĭhacos: Chillos fall apart, I've read bad reviews about Lowdown.

I realize slides aren't BIFL, but looking for something worthwhile to last a long time and replace when needed. The slides are for everything else, like going out at the campsite, pumping gas, filling water, running into the store, chilling at the creek/lake/hot springs, etc. For in town or "real" hikes I wear shoes. I live and travel in a van, so don't have room for slides AND hiking sandals. Also they don't have very good grip/tread so I found myself putting on hiking shoes for a mere quarter mile scramble down to the river. I had a pair of Chaco Chillos, but the straps broke out after 8 months. The mods are somewhat flexible with the rules as long as the OP explains in the comments.
